Key Volunteers - Make Things Happen
Its difficult to apply the 80/20 rule to youth soccer because volunteer work is spread across so many people. While the effort of paid staff is crucial to success, the organization would be at a standstill without the momentum of volunteers. The Florida Rush is privileged to have two gifted key volunteers with enormous capacity for getting things done.
Nancy Babin started volunteering in 1999 when her youngest son was only six. Ten years later, with two kids playing and hundreds of hours volunteered, Nancy continues to serve. She has worn many hats from team mom to age group coordinator, concessions coordinator and her latest role as uniform coordinator. It’s no small task to get the right kits flowing in proper directions. Nancy makes it look easy as she interacts with all parties.
Nancy has also agreed to be the Florida REACH (Rush Equipment Assisting Children) Volunteer Coordinator. She will lead the clubs collection efforts of equipment such as clothing, balls and boots for distribution by the Rush home office to those who cannot afford such items.
This year our Student Volunteer Coordinator is Kelly Patel. If you are interested in being a part of this program you can reach Kelly via email at volunteers@floridarushsoccer.com
Our Student Volunteer Program allows high school age players to volunteer in the Micro-Program as community service. Supervised by Micro Director Curt Hernandez, players can assist coaches in Friday night training, set up and break down game fields and work as field marshals on game days to earn community service hours for college. This win -win scenario helps older players learn service with the game they love, and allows them to communicate their passion for the game to the younger players.
Florida Rush is extremely grateful for all the efforts of its dedicated volunteers, especially those couple of dozen key ones.
